Grass and Native Forb Seeding

Morton County SCD now offers grass and native forb seeding services for small acreages (5 acres or less.) Examples of small acreage seedings include pollinator blocks and grass seedings between tree rows. All seeding is done with an ATV mounted broadcast seeder. Basic seedbed preparation is the responsibility of the land owner; the site needs to be sufficiently cultivated and leveled before we will come in to plant. Packing to firm up the seedbed will be the responsibility of the district and is included in the planting fee.

Pricing

Grass seeding will cost $150 per acre, plus the cost of the seed.  The land owner is responsible for purchasing the seed, but the district will work with the land owner to help determine what species will be best for the planting.  After seed is purchased the district can pick it up from the seller if necessary.   In addition to the $150 per acre, there will be a one way mileage charge, beginning from our facility in New Salem and ending at the location of the seeding.

Truax On-the-Go Model 7516 No-Till Drill

The Morton County SCD has purchased a 10’ Truax Grass Drill.  This would not have been possible without the help of the ND Game and Fish Department, the US Department of Interior, and Fish and Wildlife Service Federal Aid funds under the Wildlife Restoration Act (CFDA# 15.611).  With the help of these agencies, we can provide this service to Morton County residents.
